Drag Blues with The Lindy Hopkins

August 20, 1:00pm - 2:15pm

What is Drag Blues?

Drag Blues is a modern variation of Ballroomin' and Slow Drag, both close-embrace vintage dances, danced to the swinging rhythms found in Blues music. While based on vintage traveling Blues dances, Drag Blues has a more defined technique and incorporates swing moves and movements.

GET READY TO LEVEL UP YOUR PARTNER DANCING….and get ready to spice up your Blues dancing and become a master of the slower tempos. Karen and Dabney will help you incorporate Drag Blues into your dance repertoire with confidence and ease, unlocking the concepts of contra body movements and the importance of good posture and weight placement.

You will leave this class with a greater understanding of what it means to connect with a partner and you are guaranteed to have plenty of options for when the tempos slow down.

Balboa with Lila and Jacob

August 20, 2:30pm - 3:45pm

“Who the hell are you and who invited you to my class?" Those were Willie Desatoff's famous words to his then-future wife and dance partner, Lila. You will receive a much warmer Desatoff welcome to this class, but will still be in the presence of one of Balboa's living legends.Lila will give you tips and pointers to improve or enhance your balboa regardless of your dance level.  She will also demonstrate the 4 different styles of balboa according to her late husband Willie Desatoff. Jacob Spinney will be teaching alongside Lila. The Desatoff name is a big inspiration and motivation to Jacob, and you can definitely spot some "Willie-isms" in his dancing.
