*Summer Swing Fest Audition Track Rules
-
The following are guidelines for the Experienced Track at Summer Swing Fest.
This will be a 3 hour Lindy Hop intensive (with breaks) on Saturday, August 15 with Irina Amzashvili and Todd Yannacone at Guild of the Vale.
A video audition and approval is required in order to register.
This track is intended to challenge experienced dancers who are looking to push themselves to dive deep into their dancing.
If you aren’t sure if you’re experienced enough to audition - just go for it! Going through the process of submitting an audition tape is a good learning experience.
Submissions are free* and even if you are not placed in the track, there are plenty of other classes perfect for you throughout the weekend. Our team is here to support you.
*If you are placed in the advanced track, you must purchase an Experienced Workshop Pass ($60), à la carte classes ($25/each), or a Full Weekend Pass ($215) to attend*
Please send video submissions to summerswingfest@gmail.com by JULY 16.
Submissions after this date will be ineligible for placement in the Experienced Workshop.
Submissions will only be viewed by SSF staff and track instructors and will not be shared publicly.
You will hear back on your placement by August 1.
Here are the submission guidelines:
Must be labeled “[NAME] - Experienced Track Submission”
Must be be at least 1 minute, but no longer than 4 minutes
Must be Lindy Hop focused
Must be submitted as .mp4 format or viewable link (YouTube, Drive, etc)
Must have clear audio (minimal to no background noise, wind, etc)
Can be prerecorded (from previous competition, practice session, or performance) or a new recording
Can be any tempo or a variety of tempos
Looking for a solid foundation of rhythm, timing, and groove rather than flashy tricks or aerials.
Please include swingouts, passby’s, and rhythm changes. It is also helpful to showcase the pieces of your dancing that best express who you are as a dancer.
