SUNDAY MEETUP: POC Kickback! (please read)
๐ Sunday, August 16
๐ 4:00pm-6:00pm (before Sunday social dance)
๐ Guild of the Vale
โจ How it works:
POC Kickback is a welcoming space for people of color (โPOCโ) to connect, build community, and share their experiences in a relaxed environment.ย
Whether you'd like engage in deeper conversations or simply unwind with board games or other activities, there's something for everyone.ย
Feel free to bring your favorite games to share!
NOTE: This meetup is intended specifically for people of color. If you do not identify as a person of color, we kindly ask that you not attend this gathering.
This space is intentionally set aside for people of color to connect, build community, and discuss experiences that are unique to navigating the swing dance community.
There are many other wonderful meetups happening throughout the weekend, and we encourage you to join those! See website for more details.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and for helping us preserve this space for its intended purpose.
For the possible harder conversations we have 1 rule:
1) This space requires active listening, we are there to validate the experiences of those around you, if you do have questions they are questions of how to support and understand the personsโ perspective better. We are interrogated constantly in the outside world and this is not the space to do that.
If this rule is not abided by, the facilitators will kindly ask you to leave the space in order to maintain the sacredness of people sharing their emotions.
If anyone has questions, please contact Camille Smith via email cbsmith538@gmail.com or Ursula Hicks (MC)
